❓ Frequently Asked Questions
What is the NEET cutoff for General category in 2025?
The qualifying cutoff for General/EWS in NEET 2025 was 686–144 marks (50th percentile). This means you need at least 144 marks to qualify for counselling.
What rank can I expect with 600 marks?
In NEET 2025, 600 marks corresponded to approximately rank 5,000–17,000. In 2024, it was around 11,000–29,000. The variation is due to paper difficulty and scoring patterns.
Is 500 marks enough for government MBBS?
For General category AIQ, 500 marks is usually not enough for government MBBS. However, SC/ST candidates with 500 marks can get state GMC seats in some states. It is enough for BDS and AYUSH courses in most states.
Why does the cutoff change every year?
The cutoff depends on paper difficulty, total candidates, scoring distribution and number of seats. A harder paper results in lower cutoff marks. NEET 2022 had the lowest cutoff (117 for General) because the paper was relatively harder.
What is the difference between qualifying cutoff and admission cutoff?
Qualifying cutoff is the minimum marks to be eligible for counselling (set by NTA). Admission cutoff is the last rank at which a particular college offers admission — this is much higher than the qualifying cutoff and varies by college, category and quota.
Can I get MBBS with NEET rank 1 lakh?
With rank around 1,00,000, government MBBS is very difficult for General category. However, SC/ST candidates may get state GMC seats. Private MBBS colleges and BDS in government colleges are realistic options at this rank.
